Recipe Round-Up 4.26.15

We're back this week with some more awesome recipes to check out, but I also wanted to share that the squash casserole from last week's Round-Up is in the over right now.

Here's what's making my mouth water this week:
Tomato Pie from Southern Plate [Recipe Round-Up at A Little Seed Grows]

Considering our love of tomato sandwiches, this tomato pie from Southern Plate looks like perfection to us. Can't wait to pop some of yellow tomatoes fresh off the vine into a flaky pie crust.

Strawberry Fruit Leathers from Domestically Blissful [Recipe Round-Up from A Little Seed Grows]

One of David's favorite weekend activities is to dehydrate fruit from our Brown Boxes if we're not going to get them eaten before they spoil. These Strawberry Fruit Leathers from Domestically Blissful look to yummy not to try.

Pineapple Pork Taces from Just Us Four [Recipe Round-Up at A Little Seed Grows]

Pork in the crockpot is a pretty regular part of our meal planning, so I keep an eye open for ways to use our leftovers. Don't these pineapple pork tacos from Just Us Four look delicious? There's a pineapple sitting on the counter now just waiting to be transformed into salsa.

Bacon Wrapped Jalepenos from The Classy Chapter [Recipe Round-Up at A Little Seed Grows]

I LOVE stuffed jalepenos , but I've never tried making them. Enter this recipe for bacon wrapped jalepenos from The Classy Chapter. When the pepper plants start producing, this will need to be tried.

Arbor Day

Hello, friends! TGIF! And Happy Arbor Day!

I know we may not all have thought about planting a tree today. However, there are a lot of things we can do help with clean air and water and soil conservation. In my opinion growing anything is contributing to the effort.

Speaking of growing things, this time-lapse video is gorgeous. How many of the flowers could you identify as growing in your yard or neighborhood? We have daffodils, azaleas, irises and roses in our yard.

Happy Earth Day! [Garden Update]

Hello, friends! Can we start this post out by saying "Happy Earth Day!"

We headed out to the Flower Festival last weekend. We didn't take a single photo, but we did get our tomato, pepper and herb starters for this year's garden.

The Midlands Plant and Flower Festival is almost here! What day will we see you at the State Farmers Market?
Posted by South Carolina State Farmers Market on Monday, April 13, 2015

For the last few years, we've purchased our plans from Rodger's Heirlooms, which is a farm just outside the Columbia area. This year, we purchased four types of tomatoes and five pepper plants.

Above is the tomato bed, which as the following growing in it: Dr. Carolyn yellow cherry, Perth Pride, Kellogg's Breakfast and Nepal. There are also two comfrey plants to help with composting.

We started with the following for peppers: chocolate beauty bell pepper, aurora, jalepeno, sweet banana and Bulgarian count. However, the new puppy destroyed one of the plants, and they didn't all come home labelled, so now the output will be a bit of surprise. The garlic in the upper right corner was started last fall.

You'll notice the herbs and cacti have to been moved inside the garden fence to protect them from the monster puppy. In addition to fencing the garden beds this year, we've also covered our compost bin because he likes to jump in and dig.

Good morning, friends!

I've seen so many good recipes that I want to try that I thought it would be fun to share them as part of the Weekly Round-Up party, which is a linky I co-host on my lifestyle blog that is about sharing great blog finds.

A few of these have to go on this week's meal plan.

Parmesan Squash & Zucchini Bake from Favorite Family Recipes [Recipe Round-Up at A Little Seed Grows]

All the produce for this cheesy side dish by Favorite Family Recipes came in this weekend's Brown Box Veggies so it will definitely need to be baked and eaten at some point this week.

Buttermilk Blueberry Breakfast Cake by Alexandra Cooks [Recipe Round-Up at A Little Seed Grows]

Blueberries are David's favorite fruit, so this buttermilk blueberry breakfast cake by Alexandra Cooks will be a winner at our house.

Mexican Lasagna from Lil' Luna [Recipe Round-Up at A Little Seed Grows]

Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner, and this Mexican lasagna recipe by Lil' Luna looks super delicious. I'd pair it with some homemade guacamole and fresh salsa.

Garlic & Basil Chickpea Veggie Burgers from Ambitious Kitchen [Recipe Round-Up at A Little Seed Grows]

These veggie chickpea burgers with avocado pesto from the Ambitious Kitchen...oh my GOSH! We have to try these in the near future. They'd perfectly with some feta orzo salad.

Sriracha & Lime Salmon with Garlic Roasted Brussels Sprouts from B. Britnell [Recipe Round-Up at A Little Seed Grows]

Salmon + Brussels Sprouts = I am in heaven. This recipe for sriracha & lime salmon with garlic roasted Brussels sprouts from B. Britnell is a serious combo of two of my favorite foods.
